President's Message

Spring greetings to all of you, finally winter is behind us. Hopefully one of the highlights of your winter was the OEA seminar in Akron. For those that did not attend you missed a great seminar with excellent speakers. And now it is time for OEA to join EAC for our Spring Seminar on May 7th in Cleveland. Please plan on taking time out of your busy schedule to attend so that you can learn and earn credit hours. As always we are interested in any suggestions you may have for topics to present. I’m looking forward to seeing you at Brennan’s Party Center.

Sincerely,
Bruce

News from the Secretary

It is hard to believe that May is around the corner Once again OEA and EAC have put together an awesome con ed venue. It is always fun joining forces each Spring to trade stories, techniques and a laugh or two. If you received this newsletter you can assume that your dues are paid for 2008. Check out the OEA website for old FOCUS and new information. After Cleveland the next seminar will be at CCMS September 24, 2008. This is a week later than previously announced. Just a quick note on Con-Ed and Ohio Rules- Please keep a file with any con-ed certificates you may have earned at OEA or other con-ed venues. All licensees have until Midnight December 31, 2008 to earn their 18 CEUs. Con-ed certificates were not issued if you attended the two day event at Mountaineer because the state board had not yet adopted this current rule. Should you have questions about con-ed issues, please call me at 513-618-1932 or email me at dhicks@ccms.edu. Once the new compliance period starts January 1, 2009 licensees will have 24 months to acquire their 18 CEUs. Do not toss out your certificates from the previous compliance period as these must be produced should you be audited by the state. Keep the previous period plus the current period (4 years of records).

As always, call or email if you have ideas and locations for seminars, questions about OEA etc.

Cordially,
David G. Hicks,
Secretary OEA
